Will Hair Extensions Damage my Hair?

Deciding to invest in hair extensions is a pretty big commitment for some. With so many types of hair extensions to choose from, the choices can be overwhelming.

We love the NBR Hair Extension Method but we think it's important to explain why by telling you a bit about the different types of hair extensions out there. And then we'll gush about why we choose NBR.

Hair extensions have come a long way since they first rose to popularity in the 2000's . With advancements in technology and materials, it's now possible to find extensions that look and feel natural with minimal damage to your hair.

However it's not just the extension type and method of installation that matters.

You must find an artist who has been well trained in their chosen method. Unfortunately there are many stylists out there who have take a one-day course or learned from youtube.

Do your research. Find out where your stylist studied and why they love their chosen method.

Also, make sure you do your homework. Whatever your stylist tells you about home-maintenance- listen and follow through. There's only so much we can do to keep your scalp, hair and extensions healthy, you must be diligent about your home routine to ensure health and longevity.

Now let's get to types of extensions.....

Clip-In Extensions

Clip-in extensions are the simplest and most temporary type of extension. They are attached to your hair using small clips and can be easily removed without damaging your hair. Clip-in extensions are a great option if you're looking for a quick and easy way to add length and volume to your hair without committing to a long-term style.

How long can I keep clip-in's on?

Clip-in's are intended to be taken out before bed. We do not recommend sleeping or shampooing your hair with clip-in extensions installed. Both options can cause hair breakage and damage.

Tape-In Hair Extensions

These are applied by sandwiching a small section of your natural hair between two tape-backed extension pieces.

The tape is relatively gentle on your hair, but can cause damage if not removed correctly or if left in for too long.

Additionally, tape-in extensions can be difficult to apply and remove without professional assistance.

Maintenance routines and understanding how to properly install and remove tape-ins will determine how much damage you experience.

Micro-ring and Micro link Hair Extensions

Micro-ring also referred to as micro-link extensions are semi-permanent types of hair extensions that are applied by clamping small sections of your hair onto the extensions using tiny rings.

They are less damaging than fusion extensions, but the rings can cause damage if not applied or removed correctly. Additionally, micro-ring extensions can be difficult to maintain, as the rings can become loose over time and the extensions can slip or slip out.

Fusion Hair Extensions

Fusion extensions are a permanent type of hair extensions that are applied by fusing the extensions to your natural hair using heat or a chemical bonding agent.

They are considered to be the most damaging type of hair extensions, as the heat or chemical treatments can cause damage to your natural hair.

Additionally, fusion extensions can be difficult to remove, as they can only be removed by cutting the extensions from your hair.

Sew-in Hair Weft Extensions

Sew-in extensions are semi-permanent types of hair extensions that are applied by sewing weft hair extensions into braided sections of your natural hair.

They are relatively gentle on your hair, but the braids can cause damage if left in for too long or if they are too tight.

Additionally, sew-in extensions can be difficult to maintain, as they can become tangled and matted over time.

Why We love N.B.R

This brings us to our point. Why we love the Natural Beaded Row Extension method!!!

Natural Beaded Rows (NBR) Hair Extensions

What are NBR Hair Extensions?

Natural Beaded Rows Hair Extensions is a beaded track system. We use string and beads to create a track on the head, then we place 4-6 pieces of our hand tied hair on top of the track we created, and finally stitch the hair to the track with a needle and string.

Why is NBR different than your typical hair extensions?

*There are no glues, no tape, no harsh beads or bonds and there is less damage than any other method out there because of the angle of the beads and weight distribution of the extensions using this unique method.

* Customizable. Most extension hair comes as-is. A sort of one-size fits all system. But NBR allows you to customize the amount of hair your use to accommodate many types of hair and clients.

* We use a variety of colors to create the look natural looking hair.

*To be an NBR artist, you must commit to on-going education. So you can rest easy knowing that your stylists is up to date on on the latest techniques and committed to keeping your hair and scalp it's healthiest.

Is it for me?

NBR Hair extensions are for everyone! The only reason you would get turned down is that your layers in your hair are too short. So we usually ask that your shortest layer to hit about the shoulder.

What is the upkeep?

Typically our guest need their extensions tightened every 6-8 weeks.

How do I Apply ?

We're glad you asked! Use the button below to apply. One of our stylists will reach out to set up a consultation.

The NBR method is the safest, healthiest method of hair extension installation and the hair we use is high quality and completely customizable in color, length and volume.

We can't wait to chat your ear off about all the benefits of NBR. While we are enthusiastic about our love of this method, we can assure you a laid-back, non-pushy consultation appointment. It's important that you also fall in love with the brand and method before committing. We'd be happy to walk you through everything there is to know about extensions and the NBR family.
