Home Careers Assistant Hairstylist

Open role

Assistant Hairstylist

Licensed or in school. Wants to be taught. Willing to start at the shampoo bowl and earn the chair. Downtown San Rafael, Tuesday to Saturday.

What you will do

  • Run the shampoo bowl the Bilancio way: our technique, product selection, masques, and how extension hair is washed.
  • Assist on color: rooting, toning, timing, ripping foils, mixing Aveda and Shades EQ.
  • Assist on NBR® installs and re-tightens, and learn the rows from the first month.
  • Blow dry and iron work on real guests, with feedback the same day.
  • Keep the salon guest-ready: the floor, the stations, the retail shelf, the front.
  • Work through the written ten-week training breakdown with your mentor, and practice on mannequins between guests.

Who it is for

  • Licensed cosmetologist, or currently in school and close to your hours.
  • Someone who read Nina's post on mentorship and thought "that is what I want".
  • Willing to be corrected. The whole point is to build muscle memory in the right habits before you build it in the wrong ones.
  • Available Tuesday to Saturday in San Rafael.

What you get

  • A mentor who is a master colorist, NBR® licensed artist, and Vidal Sassoon trained cutter
  • A written curriculum from week one, so you know what you are working on
  • Extensions, color, and cutting taught on real guests, not just heads
  • Aveda product and color education
  • A small team with expectations written down and signed on day one
  • A real path to your own chair, on your readiness, not a calendar

Compensation and schedule

Discussed at your interview, in writing. Ask before you apply if you need it first: text 415-460-6300.
